Bowling Green, Ky.-Bowling Green relief pitcher Damion Carroll got back-to-back strikeouts with the tying and go-ahead runners in scoring position to close out a 1-0 win and a doubleheader sweep for the Hot Rods over the Dayton Dragons on Wednesday night. The Dragons lost the first game 8-0. The losses extended the Dragons losing streak to four straight and dropped their record to 6-8 on the season.

After Aristides Aquino struck out, O'Grady went to third on a wild pitch. Avain Rachal walked, then stole second with one out. But Carroll struck out Gavin LaValley for the second out and then struck out Jose Ortiz to end the game.

In game one, Bowling Green scored three runs in the third, keyed by a solo home run by Jace Conrad, then added four more in the fourth to break the game open. Hot Rods starting pitcher Brent Honeywell came within four outs of a no-hitter in the seven-inning game. He did not allow a hit until Ty Washington's two-out single in the sixth. The Dragons only other hit was a seventh inning single by Aristides Aquino.
