WASHINGTON'S THREE RBIs LIFT HILLCATS

Luis Lugo hurls career-high seven innings in win over Salem

tallied three RBIs to lead Lynchburg to a 4-2 victory over the Salem Red Sox on Tuesday night at LewisGale Field at Salem Memorial Ballpark. Luis Lugo (8-10) turned in a career-high seven innings pitched in the win.

HELLER HOMERS, LUGO SHAKES IT OFF
In the bottom of the first inning, Yoilan Cerse singled with one out before Kevin Heller smashed a home run over the left field wall to put the Red Sox ahead 2-0. The two-run blast marked the only runs posted by Salem and no more than one base runner would reach in an inning for the remainder of the game. Luis Lugo earned his eighth win of the season after he posted a career-high seven innings and allowed six hits while striking out six and walking just one batter.

ALL KNOTTED UP
Trey Ball 
(8-13) walked Mike Papi and Eric Haase to begin the second frame before Bobby Ison smacked a RBI double to right field that scored Papi to cut the lead to one, 2-1. LeVon Washington followed up with a RBI groundout to second base that scored Haase and tied the game at two.

WASH TIME
LeVon Washington 
wasn't done putting numbers on the board as he pushed the Hillcats ahead in the fourth. Eric Haasewalked and advanced to third on a single by Ivan Castillo and a fielding error by Mike Meyers before Washington pounded a two-RBI single to right field that gave the Hillcats a 4-2 advantage.

CLOSING THE DOOR
Robbie Aviles 
and Grant Sides each pitched a scoreless frame for the Hillcats to seal the 4-2 victory. Aviles earned his seventh hold with a scoreless frame and a strikeout in the eighth. Sides picked up save number six as he struck out the side in the ninth to close the door on the Red Sox.

KEEPING UP WITH THE CATS

and Grant Sides combined to hold the Red Sox scoreless through the final two frames…The Hillcats bullpen has not surrendered a run through the last seven contests bringing the total to 18 2/3 scoreless innings for the relievers…Bobby Ison went 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI, his first as a Hillcat…Ison has recorded two multi-hit games in eight contests since being promoted from Lake County.
