Late rally falls short against Ogden

September 7, 2015

After falling behind 6-0 on Sunday night at Suplizio Field, the Grand Junction Rockies rallied and brought the tying run to the plate in two separate innings, but fell short against the Ogden Raptors 9-7.

Grand Junction trailed 9-5 going into the eighth. They scored a pair against Raptors reliever Marcus Crescentini, but with Elvin Paulino at second base, Anthony Brito popped out to Brendon Davis to end the inning.

Cole Anderson walked on four pitches to start the bottom of the ninth, but Crescentini induced a 4-6-3 double play from Mylz Jones to clear the bases. Jonathan Piron followed and popped out to Davis, ending the ballgame.

Ogden scored the game's first six runs. Edwin Rios doubled home Jordan Paroubeck with two out in the first inning, and after they scored three runs in the second, Davis hit a 2-run homer in the third.

Anderson put the Rockies on the board with his sixth home run of the season in the bottom of the third inning, and after the Raptors got that run back in the fifth on Alex Santana's RBI single, the Rockies scored two in the bottom of the inning to get the score to 7-3, only to see the Raptors get both runs back in the sixth to make it a six run game again.

Anderson, Paulino, and Brito had two hit nights the Rockies.

Jake Henson had three hits for the Raptors while Paroubeck added two.

The loss drops the Rockies to 12-24 in the second half, 32-42 overall, and 1-11 on Sundays.
