WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (May 4, 2016) - Zach Hedges fired seven outstanding innings and Cael Brockmeyer knocked in a pair of runs to help the Myrtle Beach Pelicans to their first sweep of the season with a 3-0 victory over the Winston-Salem Dash Wednesday at BB&T Ballpark.

Hedges (3-2) retired as many as 12 Dash (10-17) batters in a row, yielding only three hits in his seven shutout frames. He did not walk a batter and struck out five. Over his last four starts, the Myrtle Beach (14-11) right-hander has surrendered just four earned runs in 26.2 innings.

The game was scoreless through the first three frames, but the Pelicans finally broke through in the fourth. With one out and Gleyber Torres stole second base. Two batters later, Yasiel Balaguert grounded a ball down the left field line to bring in Torres for his 19th RBI in his last 16 contests.

With the score still 1-0 in the seventh, Shawon Dunston Jr., who reached three times for the second straight day, walked with two outs. Dunston Jr. stole second just before Brockmeyer lined a base hit to center, plating the base runner to make it 2-0.

Brockmeyer would strike again in the ninth. Jeffrey Baez doubled with one out. Two batters later, Brockmeyer looped a single to left-center to bring Baez, making the score 3-0.
