McCutchen Astronaut Bobble, Two Fireworks Shows, Penguins' Appearance highlight upcoming Curve homestand

Curve Hosting "Out of This World Weekend," Celebrating the Penguins' first Stanley Cup Title, Staging Irish Night

CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve are set to take on the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox) and the Akron RubberDucks (Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians) during a homestand that begins Friday at PNG Field. The upcoming stay in Curve, PA will feature an Out of this World Weekend, featuring an Andrew McCutchen Astronaut Bobblebody giveaway, specialty Jar-Jar Binks jerseys on Star Wars Night, and our first Star Trek Night. Plus, appearances by two members of the Penguins' 1991 Stanley Cup Championship team, the makeup date for the Bishop Guilfoyle High School Marauder Bobblehead giveaway, a Throwback Thursday and much more.

Friday, May 20 vs. Portland Sea Dogs | 6 p.m.

  • The Curve will be handing out special Andrew McCutchen Astronaut Bobblebody giveaways to the first 1,500 fans through the PNG Field gates, presented by asurion.
  • Out of this World Weekend Kickoff: We're going out of this world with a tribute to space. The Altoona Area School District Neil Armstrong Planetarium is in the ballpark with all kinds of artifacts, games and photo opportunities.
  • Miracle League Ball Launch - Fans can win prizes in our post-game Ball Launch with proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Blair County
  • Kids Run the Bases - Kids age 12 and under can run the bases after every weekend home game in Curve, PA

Saturday, May 21 vs. Portland Sea Dogs | 6 p.m.

  • A spectacular Fireworks Show will be highlighted after the Curve and Sea Dogs square off.
  • Star Wars Night: Following up a successful Star Wars event with Jabba the Hutt jerseys last season, the Curve will be donning special Jar-Jar Binks jerseys presented by Clarion Inns & Suites, which will be auctioned during the game and online to raise funds for the AAHS Neil Armstrong Planetarium. There will also be special appearances by the Rebel Legion Base and the Garrison Carida of the 501st Legion.
  • Miracle League Ball Launch - Fans can win prizes in our post-game Ball Launch with proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Blair County
  • Kids Run the Bases - Kids age 12 and under can run the bases after every weekend home game in Curve, PA

Sunday, May 22 vs. Portland Sea Dogs | 6 p.m.

  • The first of our popular Sunday Night Fireworks Shows this season will help close out the space-themed weekend.
  • Star Trek Night: All will be able to release their inner Trekkie with Star Trek Night! Fans can come dressed as their favorite Star Trek character and come aboard the USS PNG Field!
  • Fans On-Field Catch - All fans can play catch in the outfield from 5:00 to 5:25 presented by PA Cyber
  • Miracle League Ball Launch - Fans can win prizes in our post-game Ball Launch with proceeds benefitting the Miracle League of Blair County
  • Kids Run the Bases - Kids age 12 and under can run the bases after every weekend home game in Curve, PA

Monday, May 23 vs. Akron RubberDucks | 6 p.m.

  • MEGA Mondays: The Altoona Mirror brings fans great deals this Monday, including $1 Bleacher tickets and Guaranteed Win Night! If the Curve win, fans can redeem your ticket to use at any remaining MEGA Monday Curve home game in 2016! We'll also be serving Meatball Subs for just $6 on this and every Monday during the season.
  • As Pittsburgh continues their quest for another Stanley Cup title, the Curve will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Penguins' First Stanley Cup Championship in 1991, with appearances by two members of that historic team, Troy Loney and Peter Taglianetti. Both players will be on-hand for in-game activities and an autograph session with fans, thanks to Penelec and WTAJ Your News Leader.
  • FREE Ritchey's Dairy Kids' Club Game: Kids 12-and-under who are members of the Ritchey's Diary Kids Club will receive free entrance to the series opener against the Akron RubberDucks. The Ritchey's Dairy Kids' Club is a great opportunity for young Curve fans, and it's FREE. Just by signing up, youngsters will get free admission to Kids' Club games, along with other exclusive benefits for being a member.
  • Kids Run the Bases - Kids age 12 and under can run the bases after this and all Kids' Club games on the schedule this season.

Tuesday, May 24 vs. Akron RubberDucks | 6 p.m.

  • 2 For Tuesdays: Fans can take advantage of 2-for-1 specials on tickets, hot dogs and small popcorn every Tuesday in 2016, presented by Atlantic Broadband.
  • Bishop Guilfoyle High School Marauder Bobbelehad Giveway: As a make-up from the postponed game last homestand, the Curve will be celebrating Bishop Guilfoyle High School with a BG Marauder bobblehead giveaway to the first 1,500 fans, presented by Burgmeier's Hauling.
  • Irish Heritage Night featuring Full Kilt: The Curve will celebrate folks tracing their lineage to the Emerald Isle with the music of Full Kilt from 5:00 to 5:45 on the Budweiser Party Deck and numerous in-game events with an Irish theme.


Wednesday, May 25 vs. Akron RubberDucks | 10:30 a.m.

  • 4-Pack Wednesday: Fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular-size sodas, all for one low price starting at $45.
  • M&T Bank Card Wednesday: M&T Bank customers may present their M&T Bank card at the PNG Field box office to save $2 off tickets to Wednesday's matchup against Erie.
  • Wing Wednesday: They were a hit last season, so we're bringing back Wing Wednesdays. Fans can enjoy 50-cent boneless wings at Stand #2.
  • Education Day: Fans can spend their morning and early afternoon with the Altoona Curve, as they face the Sea Dogs in a special 10:30 a.m. game.

Thursday, May 26 vs. Akron RubberDucks | 10:30 a.m.

  • Education Day: The Curve and RubberDucks will close out the homestand with another Education Day game starting at 10:30 a.m.
  • Throwback Thursday presented by Rocky 104.9: Fans can take advantage of $1 Kunzler hot dogs, as well as drink specials around the ballpark. The Curve will take the field in "Throwback Thursday" jerseys, paying tribute to the inaugural 1999 uniforms worn by the first Altoona Curve team.
  • 60s Night: Celebrate with us at PNG Field as we salute the 1960s. Fans can be Daydream Believers as the Curve and RubberDucks get going with the early 10:30 a.m. start.
