Kahnle Recalled, Smith Re-Joins Knights

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) -- Right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle, who has compiled a 1-0 record with two saves and a 2.76 ERA with the Knights in 13 games this season, was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. Catcher Kevan Smith, who was optioned to the Knights by the White Sox yesterday, is now on Charlotte's active roster, which consists of 25 active players. The first place Knights have an off day today.

Kahnle, 26, will serve as the 26th man on Chicago's roster for their straight doubleheader vs. Cleveland today. Kahnle was also recalled by Chicago on April 29 and May 5. The Latham, NY native has appeared in one game with the White Sox this season and did not allow a run over a scoreless inning with the club on April 29.

Smith, 27, is hitting .345 (10-for-29) with two home runs and six RBIs for the Knights in eight games this season. The Pittsburgh, PA native was promoted to the White Sox on April 24 but did not appear in a game. He was placed on the Chicago's disabled list on April 26 and activated on May 22.

After an off day today, the Knights will make the trek out to Syracuse, NY to open a three-game series against the Syracuse Chiefs on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday on ESPN 730 AM and CharlotteKnights.com.
