Rodon Set to Begin MLB Rehab Monday

(LOUISVILLE, KY) -- Chicago White Sox left-handed pitcher Carlos Rodon, who is currently on the club's disabled list with a sprained left wrist, will begin a Major League Baseball rehab assignment with the Charlotte Knights tonight. Rodon, 23, will get the start tonight as the Knights open a three-game series against the Louisville Bats (Triple-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) at 7:05 p.m. from Louisville, KY. In one other roster move, infielder Carlos Sanchez, who was recalled yesterday to serve as Chicago's 26th player, was returned to Charlotte following the conclusion of Chicago's game yesterday. Sanchez is not yet on Charlotte's active roster, which is currently set at 23 active players.

Rodon, who was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round (third overall) of the 2014 amateur draft, was placed on Chicago's 15-day disabled list on July 9 (retroactive to July 6). Overall this season, the N.C. State University product is 2-7 with 91 strikeouts and a 4.50 ERA in 16 starts with the White Sox (92.0 IP). He began the 2015 season with the Charlotte Knights and posted a 1-0 record with a 3.60 ERA in two starts (10.0 IP) before being promoted to the White Sox on April 20, 2015. He made his Major League debut the next day (April 21) against the Cleveland Indians. In 26 games (23 starts) with the White Sox last season, he compiled a 9-6 record with 139 strikeouts and a 3.75 ERA (139.1 IP).
