Jack Snodgrass shines in debut, as Riders win 3-2

Andy Ibanez drives in two runs in narrow win over San Antonio
August 4, 2016

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (August 4, 2016) - Jack Snodgrass delivered a quality start in his debut with the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers, who defeated the San Antonio Missions 3-2 Thursday night at Wolff Stadium.

Snodgrass (1-0) worked six innings, allowing two runs on two hits, while walking one and striking out seven, falling one strikeout short of tying a career-high. Both hits he allowed came off the bat of Franchy Cordero, who drove in San Antonio's only runs with a two-run triple in the third to close within a run at 3-2. After the triple, Snodgrass, retired 11 of the final 13 men he faced to record his first quality start since May 30, 2015 as a member of the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels.

The lefty enjoyed an early lead thanks to a sacrifice fly from Andy Ibanez that put the Riders ahead 1-0. After Luis Marte singled home a run in the third, Ibanez added a second RBI on a single to center field, giving Frisco a 3-0 advantage.

After two scoreless innings from reliever Jefri Hernandez, Joe Filomeno worked a scoreless ninth inning to lock down his first save with the Riders this season.

The Riders take on the Missions in game two of the series Friday at 7:05 p.m. Reed Garrett (2-3, 5.40 ERA) is slated to make his first start since rejoining the Riders on Tuesday. The Missions will counter with Kyle Lloyd (5-4, 4.01 ERA). Live coverage can be heard on the Frisco RoughRiders Radio Network, on the TuneIn Radio App, and the MiLB First Pitch App beginning with the Dr Pepper Pregame Show at 6:30 p.m.

The Riders return to Dr Pepper Ballpark for a six-game homestand beginning Tuesday, August 16 against the Springfield Cardinals. The homestand includes Olympic Night on Friday, August 19 and Star Wars Night on Saturday, August 20.
