Canadians offense soars as Spokane can't avoid big inning on Saturday night at Scotiabank Field

(Scotiabank Field at Nat Bailey Stadium - Vancouver, B.C.) - The gap between top spot in the Northwest League's North Division closed on Saturday night after the Canadians topped Spokane 10-4 out at Scotiabank Field while Everett snapped Tri-City's seven-game winning streak to allow Vancouver to pull to within one game.
Bryan Lizardo hit a bases-clearing double in the second inning, leading the Vancouver Canadians to a 10-4 win over the Spokane Indians on Saturday.
The double by Lizardo came in the midst of a six-run inning and gave the Canadians a 4-0 lead. Later in the inning, Javier Hernandez hit an RBI double and then scored on a single by Kacy Clemens.
The Canadians later added two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings. In the seventh, Brock Lundquist hit an RBI triple and then scored on a single by Lizardo, while Riley Adams hit an RBI double and Kevin Vicuña hit an RBI single in the eighth.
Wilfri Aleton (1-1) got the win in relief while Spokane starter Alex Speas (0-2) took the loss.
Notes: Canadians RHP Donnie Sellers started Saturday's game going two scoreless, hitless innings in his professional debut... SS Kevin Vicuna has reached base in nine of his past ten at-bats against Spokane (five hits, four walks).
The Vancouver Canadians wrap up this six-game homestand on Sunday, June 25th at 1:05pm against the Spokane Indians out at Scotiabank Field. Tickets are not available to this game as it is SOLD OUT.
