(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - The Charlotte Knights dropped the finale of their three-game series against the Toledo Mud Hens by a score of 9-4 on Thursday from BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. The Mud Hens won two of three games in the series. Down by a score of 9-1, the Knights battled back in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Toledo bullpen and scored three runs with the help of five walks. Toledo relievers Bryan Garcia and Kyle Ryan both struggled to record outs in the final inning. Garcia allowed three runs on three walks and one hit. He retired only one batter in the frame. Ryan came on in relief and he walked two batters, but eventually shut the door on the game.

Charlotte first baseman Danny Hayes led the way offensively for the Knights. Hayes launched his team-high 17th home run of the season in the bottom of the sixth inning and had two of Charlotte's seven hits on the night. Cody Asche chipped in with two hits as well.

RHP Steve Johnson (1-3, 5.04) started for the Knights and was saddled with the loss after he allowed three runs on two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. It was Johnson's first start at BB&T Ballpark as a member of the Knights and his second overall with the club since being acquired in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles organization last week. RHP Mark Lowe allowed six runs over 1.2 innings pitched.

Toledo starter Artie Lewicki (3-0, 3.06) earned the win. He allowed one run on six hits over six innings of work.
