After winning the first game in Norfolk against the Tides, the Mud Hens were looking for a series-clinching victory on Saturday night.
Despite a home run from Bryan Holaday and a strong relief effort from a number of members of the bullpen, the Mud Hens were downed by a count of 4-3 in extra innings.

Buck Farmer was on the mound for the Mud Hens and was able to toss a quality start. The right-hander lasted six innings and allowed three runs while striking out seven batters, including striking out the side in the bottom of the sixth,
Gabriel Ynoa was his opponent for the Tides and also allowed three earned runs, though he lasted seven innings and struck out just five batters in comparison.
Norfolk was able to strike early in the game. Pedro Álvarez led off the second inning with a walk and moved to second on a groundout. Drew Dosch took advantage of the runner in scoring position with a double to make it 1-0 and Luis Sardiñas followed that up with a single of his own to push the lead to two.
The Tides were able to extend their lead in the following frame. Joey Rickard and Chris Johnson each nabbed a single to put two runners on with one out and Rickard came around to score on a groundout off the bat of Chris Dickerson to make it a 3-0 game.
Toledo came storming back in the top of the fourth however, as Jim Adduci and Omar Infante hit back-to-back singles to lead off the inning. Jeimer Candelario added a single to that scored Adduci to make it 3-1, while Bryan Holaday followed up with yet another single to make it 3-2.
The game stood at that point until the top of the seventh inning, when the hot-hitting Mud Hens catcher Holaday blasted his team-leading tenth home run to tie the game up at three.
Bryan Garcia entered the game for the Mud Hens in the bottom of the seventh after an injury to Jairo Labourt and returned back to form after a disastrous outing on Thursday. The right-handed reliever threw two innings of scoreless ball without allowing a hit and added a strikeout for good measure.
Kyle Ryan was able to bounce back in his relief effort as well, throwing one and a third scoreless innings to drop his ERA back down and maintain the tie into extra innings. Zac Reininger took over from there and followed the lead of his fellow relief members, throwing a scoreless inning of his own to push the game into the twelfth inning.
Dosch led off the bottom of the 12th with a double off of Logan Kensing and was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt from Sardinas. A Logan Schafer sacrifice fly was all Norfolk needed, securing the 4-3 victory.
The Mud Hens close out their series in Norfolk on Sunday afternoon. Anthony Vasquez is set to take the hill for the Mud Hens; first pitch is scheduled for 4:05 PM.
