MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (June 3, 2018) - Tyson Miller pitched six dominant innings Sunday for the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in their 3-0 win over the Down East Wood Ducks from TicketReturn.Com Field at Pelicans Ballpark, earning the Birds their first sweep of the season.
Miller (5-4) earned the win with six shutout innings, only ceding three hits while striking out four and walking one. Erick Leal fired 1.2 scoreless innings and Wyatt Short recorded the last four outs, all via the strikeout, to earn his fourth save of the season. The shutout marked the Pelicans' seventh blanking on the season.

All the offense the Pelicans (27-29) would need came in the sixth inning. Connor Myers laced an RBI single to bring home Jhonny Pereda before Austin Upshaw plated Wladimir Galindo with a safety squeeze bunt.
The Birds added on to their 2-0 lead in the seventh when Pereda singled up the middle to knock in Luis Ayala on the 10th pitch of his at-bat.
Emerson Martinez (3-5) was handed the loss for the Wood Ducks (30-26), as he yielded two runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out two and walked two.
The win gave the Pelicans their ninth win over their last 11 contests.
After a day off on Monday, the Pelicans are back on the road for three games against the Buies Creek Astros, starting Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. from Jim Perry Stadium.
