Round Rock Falls to Las Vegas 4-2 on Wednesday Night

Aviators Take Game Two of the Six-Game Set Over the Express

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (18-16) fell to the Las Vegas Aviators (17-18) on Wednesday night by a final score of 4-2 at Dell Diamond. The series is now even at one game apiece. Round Rock reliever LHP Jimmy Robbins (0-1, 11.81) was credited with the loss

ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Round Rock Express (18-16) fell to the Las Vegas Aviators (17-18) on Wednesday night by a final score of 4-2 at Dell Diamond. The series is now even at one game apiece.

Round Rock reliever LHP Jimmy Robbins (0-1, 11.81) was credited with the loss after allowing two runs on one hit and four walks while striking out one. Las Vegas reliever RHP Michel Otanez (1-0, 4.30) took home the victory after 1.2 shutout innings of work, yielding just one hit and striking out one. Aviators RHP Vinny Nittoli came in for a perfect ninth inning and locked down his third save of the season while allowing two hits and striking out the side.

Along the Train Tracks:

  • Express 2B Jax Biggers hit a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the bottom of the second. 1B Blaine Crim came home to give Round Rock a 1-0 advantage.
  • The Aviators got on the board in the top of the fourth inning and plated two runs on a single by RF Hoy Park and a bases loaded walk by CF Daz Cameron to jump in front 2-1.
  • The game was tied at two following an RBI double by Express CF Derek Hill. After Biggers walked and stole second base in the bottom of the fifth inning, Hill knocked him home.
  • Las Vegas took a 4-2 lead in the top of the ninth on a two-run single by 2B Armando Alvarez. 3B Drew Lugbauer and DH Jordan Diaz scored and Round Rock couldn’t plate any in the bottom of the inning.

E-Train Excerpts:

  • E-Train RHP Kyle Barraclough made his Round Rock debut and saw his first game action since taking the mound for Boston's Triple-A affiliate, the Worcester Red Sox on September 19, 2023. Barraclough threw 3.2 innings and allowed two runs on four hits with five walks while tallying three strikeouts.
  • Round Rock CF Derek Hill went 1-for-5 with an RBI and extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Next up: Round Rock and Las Vegas meet for game three on Thursday, with first pitch at Dell Diamond set for 7:05 p.m. CT. Aviators RHP Joey Estes (2-3, 6.04) is slated to start up against Express RHP Adrian Sampson (4-1, 4.83).
