66ers Spilt the First Series of the Season

San Bernardino, CA- -The Inland Empire 66ers (2-2) split their season opening four game series against the Modesto Nuts (2-2) after dropping the finale 5-2 Sunday afternoon at San Manuel Stadium.

66ers starting pitcher Kramer Sneed quieted the bats of the Nuts with six strike outs in the first four innings. Meanwhile, Modesto pitcher Daniel Winkler held the 66ers off the score board until the fourth inning. In the bottom of the 4th Inland Empire's Trevor Hairgrove hit a ground ball through the left side to drive in Andy Workman for first run of the game for the 66ers.

It wasn't until the top of the 6th inning that the Nuts bats came alive. Both David Kandilas and Harold Riggins hit triples for Modesto, earning the Nuts two runs before the inning's end.  Modesto rallied for three more runs in the 7th for a 5-1 lead.

In the 8th inning the 66ers made one last go at the scoreboard when Brian Hernandez batted with the bases loaded as the tying run. Hernandez was able to drive in a run with a fielders choice but the Nuts got out of the inning without any further damage done.

The 66ers start their second series of 2013 Monday night against the High Desert Mavericks. The first pitch of the 66ers second home series of the season will be thrown down by starting pitcher Danny Reynolds , 3:05p at San Manuel Stadium.
