Generals End Biscuits Season, 8-2

September 10, 2016

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits lost Game 4 of the 2016 North Division Series on Saturday night, falling to the Jackson Generals by a score of 8-2. The loss eliminated the Biscuits from playoff contention, and ended the Biscuits hopes for a third Southern League Championship in team history.

Hunter Wood (0-1) got the start for the Biscuits and was roughed up in the first inning by a Tyler O'Neill two-run homer and a solo blast by Ryan Casteel that made it 3-0 Generals. That was all Jackson would need, as starting pitcher Bryan Evans (1-0) hurled six innings of one-run ball to remain undefeated (6-0) in his career against the Biscuits.

The Generals would add five more runs in the fifth off Wood and reliever Yonny Chirinos, and the Biscuits would tack on a run in the ninth on an RBI-single by Granden Goetzman. The Biscuits have been eliminated from the Divisional Round of the postseason in four games for the second-straight year, as Jackson heads to their first Southern League Championship Series since 2012.

The Biscuits still finished the 2016 season with 76 wins, the third-most in franchise history, and have a wealth of talent going forward into 2017.
