Navy Night Returns To The Baysox

August 3, 2010
The Baysox appreciate and welcome all members of the Armed Forces, but the team has a special relationship with the Navy. With the U.S. Naval Academy located just 14 miles away in Annapolis, and the numerous Naval bases and installments located around our region, the Baysox are pleased to present Navy Night, sponsored by Navy Federal Credit Union, on Tuesday, August 10, as the Baysox take on the Portland Sea Dogs at 7:05 p.m. This special event has taken place each of the last ten years, and is one of the many great events hosted here at the ballpark. The Baysox work directly with the Morale, Welfare & Recreation Office at Naval Station Annapolis to distribute thousands of tickets to area Naval Officers, enlisted members of the U.S. Navy, Retirees and Department of Defense employees. On July 1, approximately 1,245 young men and women from all 50 states and nine different countries reported for Induction Day at the Academy. Induction Day is the first day of a freshman's life at the Academy. The day kicks off "Plebe Summer," the midshipmen's six-week military indoctrination period. After six weeks of rigorous physical and military training, the Plebes will be ready for life at the Academy. The Plebes work hard all day every day, but they get to take a short break near the end of the program - to come to Baysox Navy Night! Fans can see the entire Plebe class dressed in their all white uniforms at the game. It is quite the scene and something you don't want to miss! After the game, the Baysox will light up the skies around Prince George's stadium with a Navy themed fireworks extravaganza presented by Navy Federal Credit Union.
