Chukars Continue Clinching Party With Win

Idaho Falls Edges Ogden 4-3
September 5, 2013

Ogden, UT -- After clinching spot yesterday, Idaho Falls sent out a lineup without four of their top bats. However, the pitching holds up their end of the bargain. The Chukars outlast the Raptors 4-3 at Lindquist Field.

The Chukars (41-32, 22-13) didn't have Hunter Dozier, Daniel Rockett, Humberto Arteaga, and Cody Stubbs. That didn't stop Idaho Falls from striking in the first. Carlos Garcia scored on a groundout by Frank Schwindel.

Chukars doubled the lead in the second. Logan Davis doubled to score Alex Marquez and give the team a 2-0. Marquez would be become the run producer in the third. The Chukars catcher singled home Alexis Rivera.

On the mound, Yender Caramo delivered another gem. Last outing, the right-hander pitched eight innings of no-hit baseball. Caramo didn't allowed a hit for the first two innings of this start. Finally, the hitless streak ended in the third, thanks to a Hank Yates home run. But the solo shot was the only run Caramo allowed. He went six innings and struck out three batters.

Idaho Falls led by two runs entering the ninth inning, and Corey Rhoney retired the first two batters of the frame. However, Justin Chigbogu laced a triple down the right field line, followed by a run scoring triple by Hank Yates. With the tying run on third base, Rhiney struck out Dillion Moyer to end the game.

The win is the fourth in a row for Idaho Falls. The squad has won 22 of the past 27 road games.

Idaho Falls and Ogden finish the two game series tomorrow.
