The Columbus Clippers split a doubleheader Friday on the road against the Louisville Bats, taking the first game 5-4 in 8 innings before dropping the nightcap, 2-0.

Game 1 marked the first extra-innings victory for the Clippers this season. Bryan Lavastida tripled home the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th. Anthony Gose earned his first win of the year with 2.0 perfect innings of relief.

Myles Straw banged out three hits for Columbus including a double and triple, scoring two runs and driving in one to raise his average this season to .244.

Connor Gillispie tossed 5.0 scoreless innings of one-hit baseball for the Clippers in the evening’s second game, striking out nine batters. Louisville plated two runs however in the 6th inning against Tanner Burns, who suffered his first loss of the season.

The Clippers and Bats will be back at it Saturday night at Louisville Slugger Field, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15pm. Columbus returns home on April 16 for Tansky Tuesday Dime-A-Dog Night. Tickets are available at ClippersBaseball.com.
