Higginbotham Named Appy League Pitcher of the Week

DANVILLE, Va. - For the second time in the 2018 season a Danville Braves was crowned with Appalachian League Player of the Week honors.

DANVILLE, Va. - For the second time in the 2018 season a Danville Braves was crowned with Appalachian League Player of the Week honors.

On Monday, the D-Braves Jake Higginbotham was touted as the best pitcher of the week from July 9-15.
Last week, Higginbotham posted six scoreless innings, allowing only one hit while striking out four batters and earned his first professional win against the Bluefield Blue Jays on July 14. The Buford, Georgia, product boasts a 0.00 ERA through 12.2 innings with 13 punchouts.
D-Braves pitcher Jose Montilla was selected as Appy Pitcher of the Week June 25-July 1.
Higginbotham is coupled with Appy League Player of the Week, Princeton's Wander Franco, who batted .467, blasting three homeruns, driving in 11 and scoring six runs.
Danville finishes its brief three-game road trip against the Bluefield Blue Jays on Monday night before returning to Legion Field for a six-game homestand against the Pulaski Yankees and Johnson City Cardinals July 18-23. All games except for Sunday will begin at 7 p.m. Sunday's game begins at 4 p.m.
