Driller Home For 8 Games, June 11-18

Stand marks end of first half, beginning of second half
June 9, 2014

The Tulsa Drillers will host the Arkansas Travelers (Los Angeles Angels) and Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals) in an 8-game homestand at ONEOK Field that will run June 11-18. The first six games of the homestand will mark the final games in the first half of the Texas League season.

The first-place Drillers will enter play Monday night with a 5-game lead over second-place Arkansas and with a magic number of four to clinch the first-half North Division title.

The four games in the homestand against the Travelers, June 11-14, will all start at 7:05PM.

The opener against the Cardinals on Sunday, June 15 will begin at 2:05PM, while the finale on Wednesday, June 18 will start at 11:05AM. The other two games will have standard 7:05PM first pitches.

The Promotions Schedule for the homestand is headlined by back-to-back Fireworks games on Friday, June 13 and Saturday, June 14.

Other promotions include Bark-In-The-Park on June 11, Star Wars Night/Thirsty Thursday on June 12, Souvenir Sunday Team Posters on June 15 and $2 Tuesday on June 17.

The complete promotional list for the homestand is below.

Individual tickets for all the games, and any other game this season, are currently available for purchase online at TulsaDrillers.com, in person at the ONEOK Field Ticket Office (201 N. Elgin Avenue) or over the phone at (918) 744-5901.

CASTEEL HONORED: Ryan Casteel was named the Texas League's Player of the Week for the period running June 2-8. In 6 games, Casteel hit .385 (10-26) with 3 home runs and 7 runs batted in. Former Union High School hurler Drew Rucinski was named the league's Pitcher of the Week. Rucinski pitched a 9-inning, 5-hit shutout for Arkansas.

SIZING UP THE OPPONENT: The Drillers have won 7 of 12 meetings with Arkansas this season, but are only 1-3 in games played at ONEOK Field. Conversely, they have won three of four meetings with Springfield in Tulsa.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE REGAINED: Home field was not necessarily an advantage for the Drillers at the beginning of the season. However, after enduring a 4-10 home record for the month of April, Tulsa has since gone 9-4 at ONEOK Field, including three straight wins.

RED-HOT HUMPHRIES:  After hitting .333 during the month of May, Brian Humphries began June just as hot. The outfielder hit safely in the first six games of the month, compiling a .345 average.

RELIEF PERFECTION: Through June 8, Tulsa closer Scott Oberg was a perfect 15 for 15 in save opportunities. His 15 saves were the second most in the Texas League. His bullpen mate, Kraig Sitton, is third in the TL with 7 holds.

ROTATION UPDATE: The Drillers' starting rotation has changed since the last homestand. Eddie Butler was promoted to the majors and made his MLB debut with the Colorado Rockies on June 6. In addition, Dan Winkler left his last start on June 7 with elbow discomfort. Finally, Tyler Anderson returned to Tulsa's rotation on June 8 after spending two weeks on the disabled list.
