NOTES OF INTEREST
DIGGING THE LONG BALL: Through the first 36 games of the season, the Drillers currently lead the Texas League with 40 round-trippers as a club. They also lead the league in OPS (.751) and slugging percentage (.427).
FARMER NAMED TEXAS LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Speaking of offensive performances, Tulsa catcher/infielder Kyle Farmer was recently honored for his hitting exploits by being named the Texas League Player of the Week for the period of May 8-14. During that stretch, Farmer batted .632 with a .667 on-base percentage to lead all Minor League qualified hitters.
HURLERS STEPPING UP: The Tulsa pitching staff has not been slacking either as it has delivered some quality numbers as well. As a staff, the club has a 3.59 ERA which is good for the best mark in the Texas League North Division, while ranking as the second lowest in the league behind only the San Antonio Missions. The achievement is thanks in large part to the Tulsa bullpen where Corey Copping, Michael Johnson, Karch Kowalczyk, Edward Paredes and Yaisel Sierra all have ERA's at or under 3.00.
RECORD AGAINST OPPONENT:  The Drillers will enter the homestand with an overall record of 54-61 against the Travs when playing at ONEOK Field. This season has gotten off to a better start though as Tulsa claimed three out of four games against Arkansas when the two clubs last played in town at the end of April.
