Pulaski, Virginia - Every time the Elizabethton Twins scored Tuesday night the Pulaski Yankees were able to counter with runs of their own, and then some, allowing the Yankees to come out on top 10-5.
Elizabethton took its first lead of the series in the third inning when Spencer Steer crushed his second home run of the season, a two-run shot that scored Ruben Santana. At the time, his home run made the score 2-1, but Pulaski countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and didn't look back.
The Yankees, after scoring one in the first and two in the third, added two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Starter Ryley Widell improved on his previous start, but still struggled, allowing five runs on five hits over four innings and taking his third loss of the year.
Elizabethton added more to the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh innings, but each time Pulaski responded in the bottom half with more runs.
In the sixth, Trevor Jensen brought home Alex Isola with a sacrifice fly and in the seventh, Anthony Prato doubled home Steer and then scored on an Isola groundout.
Albee Weiss went 2-5 in the game, the only E-Twin to have a multi-hit night at the plate.
For a pitching staff that struggled, Dylan Thomas was a bright spot, pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning with two strikeouts.
Elizabethton looks avoid a sweep from Pulaski Wednesday night, first pitch is at 6:30 p.m. from Calfee Park in Pulaski.
