Brooks Lee #22

Selected in the 1st round (No. 8 overall) of the 2022 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins out of Cal Poly... signed with the Twins on July 26, 2022... previously selected by the San Francisco Giants in the 35th round of the 2019 MLB Draft -- Lee could have been an early-round pick out of high school in 2019, but teams knew he was intent on heading to Cal Poly so he could play for their head coach -- his father, Larry... a severe knee and hamstring injury forced Lee to miss almost all of the shortened 2020 season, but he returned in 2021 to post an OPS over 1.000 and shared Big West Player of the Year honors... also saw time with Team USA and in the Cape Cod Baseball League... advanced several levels in 2022 with the Twins, beginning with the rookie-level FCL Twins before reaching Cedar Rapids and then Double-A Wichita by September... was a non-roster invitee to Twins Spring Training in 2023... entered the 2023 season ranked by MLB.com as the No. 31 overall prospect in baseball and the top-ranked prospects in the Twins' system.

Appeared in 115 games at Cal Poly from 2020-22, hitting .351 with 25 homers, 114 RBIs, 53 doubles, 6 stolen bases and 104 runs across 459 at-bats... before Cal Poly he played at San Luis Obispo High School in California; as a junior was named PAC 8 Player of the Year, San Luis Obispo County Player of the Year by The Tribune and a first-team All-CIF-Southern Section Division 3 selection... hit .405 as a senior shortstop at San Luis Obispo High School in 2019, going 32-for-79 at the plate with 13 doubles, two home runs and 25 RBIs ... struck out just nine times in 92 plate appearances and led the Tigers of head coach Brian Wong to a 23-5-1 overall record, second-place finish in the Mountain League and to the semifinal round of the CIF-Central Section Division 1 playoffs... hit .437 in his three varsity seasons with 122 hits, including 28 doubles, four triples and six home runs ... drove in 78 runs and also scored 78 times, striking out 22 times in 328 career plate appearances...

Son of Larry and Liz Lee... his father is head baseball coach at Cal Poly... one sister, Jenna... Larry Lee and two of Brooks' uncles, Terry and Mike Lee, played professional baseball in the Giants organization: Terry Lee was a first-round pick of the Giants out of San Luis Obispo High School in 1974 while Mike Lee signed a free agent contract with San Francisco in 1973 after finishing his college career at Santa Clara... Brooks' grandfather, Tom Lee, was a boxing, football, basketball and baseball coach at Cal Poly and was inducted into the Cal Poly Athletics Hall of Fame in 1990... told Cal Poly he enjoys surfing and wakesurfing... born in San Luis Obispo, Calif.... majored in sociology at Cal Poly
