JUPITER, Fla (Aug. 12, 2017) - Oriel Caicedo took a no-hitter into the ninth inning against the Jupiter Hammerheads on Saturday night, but the Florida Fire Frogs fell, 2-1, in 10 innings at Roger Dean Stadium.

Caicedo hit Mason Davis with a pitch with one out in the first, and set down the next 23 Hammerheads to step up to the plate to carry a no-hitter through eight frames. The southpaw popped up Chris Hoo to start the ninth and had Cleuluis Rondon reach on an error by Carlos Castro at first to snap a string of 24 consecutive batters retired. Corey Bird bounced into a fielder's choice to bring the 23-year-old within an out of history, but Mason Davis ripped a single into right field to break up the bid, moving Bird to third.
Florida's (16-29, 41-70) starter still had a chance at a complete-game shutout, but Colby Lusignan's infield single to short plated Bird to tie the game at one. Caicedo retired John Siliviano on a grounder to first to finish the inning with a 1-1 score.
The native of Panama recorded 13 ground outs, five fly outs, and a season-high, six strikeouts in a career-high, nine innings. The southpaw stretched his scoreless-inning streak to a team-record, 15.2 innings, and had 72 of his 98 pitches for strikes.
Brandon White (0-1) tossed the 10th frame and surrendered a two-out, walk-off single to Rondon, pushing across Justin Twine for the game-winning run.
Anfernee Seymour (2x4, RBI, BB) extended his on-base streak to 17 games in the second with an RBI single to second, plating Castro (2x4, R) for the lone run of the game for the Fire Frogs.
Castro started the inning with a single to left, and advanced to second on Justin Ellison's (1x4) bunt single. After Kevin Franklin (0x4) struck out and Alejandro Salazar (1x4) bounced out to short were retired, Seymour beat out a grounder to second for an infield single, allowing Castro to score.
Big-league rehabber Kyle Barraclough started for Jupiter. The 27-year-old walked Seymour and hit Ray-Patrick Didder (1x4) to start the game, but struck out Alay Lago (0x4) and Brett Cumberland (0x4) and induced a ground out from Braxton Davidson (0x4) to escape the jam in his only inning of work.
Pablo López tossed seven innings of relief for the Hammerheads. The native of Venezuela allowed the only run of the game on five hits and eight strikeouts. Felipe Gonzalez (9-8) gave up two hits and struck out three in the final two innings to pick up the win.
Florida wraps up its eight-game road trip on Sunday afternoon in the finale of the five-game set against Jupiter. LHP Ricardo Sánchez (4-12, 4.98) takes the mound for the Fire Frogs against the Hammerheads' RHP James Needy (2-2, 1.52) First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m.
