Delgado Extends On-Base Streak to 10 in Loss to Lakeland

LAKELAND, Fla. (Aug. 18, 2018) - The Florida Fire Frogs were eliminated from playoff contention with an 11-2 loss to the Lakeland Flying Tigers at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium on Saturday night. The Fire Frogs also suffered their 20^th series defeat, and have not won a set since taking two of three from the Clearwater Threshers from July 13-15.

Huascar Ynoa (1-3) faced the minimum in the first inning, but allowed two runs to cross in the second. The right-hander gave up a single to Daniel Pinero to start the innings, and had Brock Deatherage reach on an error to put the first two men on base.
The 20-year-old retired Dylan Burdeaux on a popout to second, but followed that by surrendering an RBI single to Austin Athmann to put Florida (17-34, 46-71) behind by a run. The starter allowed the second run of the frame to cross on a fielder's choice hit into by Derek Hill, scoring Deatherage from third.
Lakeland (32-21, 68-55) tallied three more runs I the fourth to force Ynoa from the game. The Atlanta Braves' 23^rd-ranked prospect finished the night with five runs allowed (three earned) on six hits, a walk and three strikeouts before being lifted for Victor Cavalieri after 3.2 innings.
The home team broke the game open with a four-spot against the left-handed reliever in the fifth, which was answered with a run from the visitors in the top half of the sixth.
Riley Delgado (1x4) extended his on-base streak to 10 games with two outs and Drew Waters (1x4, R) on first. The hit-and-run worked for Florida, with Waters taking third on the play, but a missed-catch error by Pinero at third allowed the base runner to score on the play to break up the shut out.
The Flying Tigers added solo runs in the sixth and eighth frames.
Garrison Schwartz (2x4, R, HR, RBI) connected for a solo blast to right to cap off the scoring on Saturday.
Michael Fulmer started for Lakeland and tossed four innings of shutout ball in his second rehab start. Anthony Castro (8-3) earned the win for the Detroit Tigers' affiliate, allowing an unearned run on three hits, two free passes and three punchouts.
Florida will look to avoid the sweep in the finale of the weekend set against Lakeland in game three on Sunday afternoon at Publix Field at Joker Marchant Stadium. LHP Tucker Davidson (6-10, 4.71) takes the bump for the Fire Frogs against LHP Gregory Soto (7-6, 4.42). First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., with coverage starting at 12:45 p.m. with the Florida Fire Frogs Pre-game Show on the Florida Fire Frogs Broadcasting Network.
