TAMPA, FL: A career-best performance for RHP Miguel Yajure led the Tampa Tarpons to a 3-0 shutout victory versus the Florida Fire Frogs on Tuesday night at Steinbrenner Field.

Yajure (2-5) exceeded six innings for the first time in his career, scattering six hits and a walk with eight strikeouts in seven shutout frames.
Tampa scored twice in the second. A wild pitch from starter RHP Matt Withrow and a throwing error from William Contreras brought in the first run. A sacrifice fly from Angel Aguilar plated Jason Lopez to put Tampa in front early, 2-0.
They added an insurance run in the third courtesy of an RBI groundout by Oswaldo Cabrera, scoring Tyler Hill; 3-0 Tarpons.
Withrow (1-1) made minimal mistakes in his second start of the year. He threw 2 and 2/3's innings, surrendering two hits, three earned runs, and two walks.
RHP Lukas Young, RHP Bradley Roney, and RHP Daysbel Hernandez combined to blank the Tarpons over the final 5 and 1/3's stanzas. Young fanned three while recording seven outs. In his first appearance since 2017, Roney struck out two and allowed just a hit and a walk. Hernandez tossed a scoreless eighth.
Contreras extended his season-best hitting streak to eight games while going 2-4 at the plate. He reached three times.
RHP Hobie Harris kept the Fire Frogs off the board in the eighth and ninth to earn his first save of 2019.
NEXT UP: Florida will try and avoid a sweep with LHP Philip Pfeifer (0-1, 1.93) getting the start against RHP Frank German (1-2, 3.60). The contest will begin at Steinbrenner Field at 6:30 p.m.
