Twins knock off Astros in series finale

Greeneville, TN - The Greeneville Astros took on the Elizabethton Twins in their series finale on Tuesday night at Pioneer Park. The Twins took an early lead before the Astros evened the score in the fourth inning at 2-2. However, Elizabethton kept pace and eventually ended up with an 8-4 win over the Astros to complete the series sweep.

Rory Rhodes started the scoring in the first inning with a RBI-single for the Twins. Then, in the fourth, Zach Granite hit a sacrifice fly to score Dereck Rodriguez.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Astros got a leadoff double from Ricky Gingras followed by an Edwin Gomez RBI-triple. Gomez later scored on a groundout to even the score at 2-2.

Elizabethton took the lead right back in the fifth inning on a Romy Jimenez RBI-triple. Then, they added three more runs in the seventh on two RBI-singles and a throwing error by the Astros. Finally, they tacked on two more runs in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Stuart Turner and a RBI-triple by Mitch Garver. That gave the Twins an 8-2 lead.

The Astros got a two-run homer from Edwin Gomez in the bottom of the inning to make the score 8-4 but that would be the final score of the night.

Elizabethton's Tim Shibuya picked up the win for the Twins after pitching 4.0 innings, giving up three hits and two runs.
