Where in Greeneville is Tex?

May 3, 2013

As the summer season approaches and opening day gets closer, the Astros are giving fans a chance to win giveaways before the gates even open. In the month and a half leading up to the first game, there will be two ways fans can win items ranging from autographed baseballs to tickets for opening night.

From May 6 to May 11, the Astros will be giving away autographed baseballs from members of last season's team to seven lucky fans. To be entered into the drawing, all fans have to do is tell the Astros what they are most excited about for the upcoming season. Answers can be sent in via twitter to the @GvilleAstros account or written on the Greeneville Astros Facebook wall. Anyone who answers will have their name entered into a drawing for a 2012 team autographed baseball.

In the six weeks leading up to opening night, starting May 13, the Greeneville Astros will be holding a scavenger hunt. Each week, the Astros will post a clue on either Twitter or Facebook about a certain famous location in town. Fans will have until Friday at 12pm of each week to take a picture of themselves at the location. They can then post the photo to Facebook or tweet the picture to the Astros twitter account. Those who send in a picture at the correct location will be entered into a drawing for tickets to opening night on June 23. Each drawing for tickets will occur that Friday afternoon. After the final week of the scavenger hunt, the winner from each week will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize which will include all giveaways for the season before anyone else in town receives them.

The Greeneville Astros are the Appalachian League affiliate of the Houston Astros. The 2013 season will begin on June 20 at Bluefield and the club's home opener will be on Sunday, June 23 at 7:00pm against the defending champion Elizabethton Twins. Options to renew and purchase new season tickets are now available at the Astros Administrative office located at Pioneer Park on the campus of Tusculum College. Offices are open Monday through Friday from 9:00am-5:30pm. For more information on the Greeneville Astros, call (423)638-0411.
