Five-Run 8th Breaks Open Tie Game

Great Falls, MT-The Voyagers plated 11 runs over a three-inning span and posted a second-straight come-from-behind victory 12-7 over Idaho Falls Friday night at Centene Stadium.

Great Falls (25-26, 3-10) is now 18-9 at home this season. The Voyagers improved to 11-5 against the South Division. Idaho Falls (26-25, 5-8) has lost three in a row. The Chukars dropped to 7-9 against North opponents.
The Chukars started the scoring again with a two-run 1st. After back-to-back walks to open the game, Nate Eaton doubled up the right field line for a 2-0 lead. The Voyagers cut the lead in half with a mark in the 3rd. A one-out, solo home run by Micah Coffey cleared the wall in the left field corner. It was Coffey's first professional homer.
Idaho Falls added to its lead with two runs in the 4th and three more in the 5th for a 7-1 cushion. In the 4th, Hunter Strong smacked a two-run home run to right for his second of the season. Jose Caraballo provided an RBI double in the 5th. Chase Vallot also registered an RBI single in the frame.
The Voyagers comeback began with a two-out rally in the 6th. Amado Nunez singled to center. Logan Sowers brought Nunez home with a double to the alley in left-center. Alex Destino trimmed the lead to 7-3 with an RBI single to right that scored Sowers.
Great Falls sent 10 men to the plate in a four-run 7th that leveled the game. The inning started with a Micah Coffey single to right. Romy Gonzalez followed with a walk. Lenyn Sosa doubled to left to drive in the first run of the inning. Bryce Bush grounded out for another run. Amado Nunez produced an RBI double to the wall in right. After Logan Sowers walked, Alex Destino doubled to right and it was tied at 7-7.
The Voyagers batted around again in the 8th and scored five more times to break the tie. Romy Gonzalez doubled off the wall in deep right to spark the big inning. Lenyn Sosa reached with a bunt single to third that also ended with a throwing error allowing Gonzalez to score the go-ahead run. Bryce Bush reached on a ground ball to second that was booted. Amado Nunez singled to center for an RBI. An RBI groundout by Alex Destino made it 10-7. Ryan Fitzpatrick was then hit by a pitch. Jhoandro Alfaro capped the scoring with a two-run double to the gap in right-center.
Great Falls outhit Idaho Falls 15-11. The Voyagers produced seven doubles, the most in a single game this season. Lenyn Sosa went 4-for-5 with one RBI and two runs scored. Amado Nunez bagged three hits with two RBIs and three runs. Alex Destino collected two hits and three RBIs. Micah Coffey had two hits with two runs.
Austin Conway picked up his first win on the mound. Conway (1-1) pitched the final two innings and gave up just two hits with one strikeout. Jose Ramirez took the loss. Ramirez (0-1) went one-and-two-thirds and allowed five runs (one earned) on four hits with one strikeout and one walk.
