The Greeneville Astros (33-34) cliched their fourth playoff berth in team history on Thursday night as the Bluefield Blue Jays defeated the Johnson City Cardinals by a final score of 12-1. With the Astros and the Cardinals in a two-way tie for second place in the Appalachian League Western Division,

The Greeneville Astros (33-34) cliched their fourth playoff berth in team history on Thursday night as the Bluefield Blue Jays defeated the Johnson City Cardinals by a final score of 12-1. With the Astros and the Cardinals in a two-way tie for second place in the Appalachian League Western Division, the Astros 6-3 record against the Cardinals pushed the Astros into the playoffs.
The Astros will take on the Elizabethton Twins at 6:00pm on Saturday September 2nd at Pioneer Park in a best two-out-of-three series. Gates will open at 4:30pm for season ticket members and 5:00pm for the general public. Game two, and three if necessary, will be played in Elizabethton at Joe O'Brien Field on Sunday and Monday night. Playoff tickets can be purchased online here or at the Pioneer Park box office.
