The Idaho Falls Chukars got out to a 10-0 lead in the 4th inning and cruised to a 13-4 victory over the Great Falls Voyagers on Sunday afternoon at Centene Stadium.
Tyler James extended his hitting streak to 16 games as he went 2 for 5 with 3 runs scored. He also reached base twice on an error. James is batting .313 on the season. James also stole 2 bases. That makes it the 13th time that James has stolen 2 or more bases in a game.
Reed Rohlman hit his 5th home run of the year in the 3rd inning off Jason Bilous. That homer knocked Bilous out of the game. He finished with 6 runs allowed on 6 hits in 2 innings plus. The Chukars scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning to make it a 6-0 game.
The 4th inning extended the Chukars lead to 9-0 after an Offerman Collado 3 run home run. It was Collado's 2nd home run of the year.
Chukars pitcher Jonathan Heasley was outstanding on Sunday afternoon, working 5 shutout innings, allowing 2 hits and 1 strikeout. Heasley had 11 ground ball outs and only 1 flyout. It was the first professional win for Heasley, who was drafted in the 13th round of the 2018 draft by the Royals.
The Chukars head to Billings to take on the North division leaders, who have a 11-3 record in the 2nd half. It will be the Pioneer League debut for LHP Rito Lugo, who will start for Idaho Falls. He will be opposed by Billings RHP Adrian Rodriguez. 7:05 PM first pitch.
Chukars notes: James has 13 multi-stolen base games this year. To put that in perspective, Nate Eaton is 2nd in the Pioneer League in Stolen Bases this year. He has a total of 13 stolen bases. Hunter Strong had another good game for the Chukars as he went 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and a double. Chase Vallot went 2 for 5 with a double, his 12th of the season. All 12 doubles have been on the road. Kyle Kasser went 0 for 4 to end a 5 game hitting streak. Nick Hutchins also had a 2 hit game with an RBI. Daniel James made his Chukars debut on Sunday. He got the last 2 outs of the game.
