Ports Sink Sixers in Ten Innings

San Bernardino, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino fell to the Stockton Ports 8-7 in ten innings on Friday at San Manuel Stadium. The loss ended the 66ers (17-18) four-game win streak. Following the see-saw loss Inland Empire is now 2-2 against the Ports.
The Sixers took a 4-0 lead in the second with highlighted by triples from Roberto Baldoquin and Jahmai Jones. The Ports (21-14) chiseled into the lead with two in the top of the third including a RBI single by Kevin Merrell and RBI single by Melvin Mercedes. Merrell finished with four hits. The Ports took a 7-4 lead in the top of the seventh, but Inland Empire bounced back in the bottom of the frame featuring RBI singles from Baldoquin and Kevin Williams Jr.. The Sixers had cracks at the lead by Andrew Tomasovich got a pair of strikeout to end the seventh still tied. The Sixers also failed to score in the ninth with bases loaded and one out in the eighth as Tomasovich coaxed an inning-ending double play. In the tenth with a runner at second the Ports sacrifice bunted pinch runner Nate Mondou to third and he came home on Dairon Blanco's sac-fly to center. The Sixers failed to score in their half of the tenth and fell to 0-3 in extra-inning games. Luis Rengifo, Jones, Jared Walsh, Baldoquin and Brandon Sandoval all had two-hit games for the 66ers. Jonah Heim had a single and double for the Ports extending his hit streak to a Cal League-best 18-games.
