Sixers Secure Split at Lancaster with Late Insurance Runs

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino blew open a tight series-finale on Sunday and earned a split of a four-game set against the Lancaster JetHawks after dropping the first two games of the series. Inland Empire (35-39, 2-2) dropped the JetHawks with clutch hitting (6-for-12 with RISP)

Lancaster, CA- The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino blew open a tight series-finale on Sunday and earned a split of a four-game set against the Lancaster JetHawks after dropping the first two games of the series. Inland Empire (35-39, 2-2) dropped the JetHawks with clutch hitting (6-for-12 with RISP) and strong pitching from a trio of righties Matt Ball, Kida De La Cruz (1-0) and Zack Kelly (SV, 1).
Lancaster took a 1-0 lead into the third, but the Sixers tied the game in the fourth against Brandon Gold (0-1) when Jordan Zimmerman tripled and then scored on David MacKinnon's RBI single. The game remained tied at 1-1 through the sixth, after De La Cruz tossed two scoreless in his Cal League debut. In the top of the seventh with two outs, Alberto Triunfel drilled Gold's 110th pitch of the day out to left for the Sixers' second baseman's second homer of the year and a 2-1 lead. Jo Adell then led of the eighth with a solo shot, his ninth, to make it 3-1. Kelly allowed a run in the eighth making it 3-2 but the Sixers exploded in the ninth when Triunfel delivered and RBI double followed by Adell's RBI single (his third hit) and Brandon Marsh capped the scoring by smashing a two-run double. Lancaster (35-39, 2-2) was 0-for-6 with RISP. MacKinnon had his fourth straight two-hit game of the series. Zimmerman and Richie Fecteau also had two hit games for Inland Empire who improved to 13-9 on the year against the JetHawks..
