BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Johnson City Cardinals forced a rubber match with a convincing 7-2 win in the second game of the Appalachian League championship series Tuesday in Burlington.
The Cards leapt out to a 4-0 lead in the first.
Soto was masterful as the starter, limiting the Royals attack to three hits over 5.2 innings. He did not allow a run while striking out six. The postseason win was his first.
The Cardinals and Royals meet Wednesday with the Appalachian League title on the line. Starters for Wednesday's matchup are both TBA.
