2011 schedule and game times announced

The State College Spikes have announced their 2011 New York-Penn League schedule, which will open with a pair of road games at SawBuck Series rival Williamsport (Philadelphia Phillies) on June 17 and 18. The Crosscutters will then provide the opposition for the Spikes' Home Opener at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park on Sunday, June 19 at 6:05 p.m.

State College's 76-game regular season schedule will include a total of 38 home games between June 19 and the home finale on Thursday, September 1. As part of one of the Spikes' most fan-friendly schedules in team history, 19 of the 38 home dates will be held on either a Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

Williamsport (6 games) will once again be the most common visitors to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, followed by five games each against Pinckney Division rivals Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals), Batavia Muckdogs (St. Louis Cardinals), Jamestown Jammers (Florida Marlins) and Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians). Four non-divisional opponents -- Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles), Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets), Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers) and Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox) -- will also travel to State College.

Standard home game times will remain 7:05 p.m. for Monday through Saturday contests and 6:05 p.m. on Sundays. The only exception to standard start times will be Monday, August 1 at Noon, when the Spikes host Lowell in the finale of a three-game series.
