All-Star INF Mendick returns to Intimidators

Kannapolis receives former Buckeye LHP Horejsei from Great Falls

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 20, 2016) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, have received South Atlantic League Mid-Season All-Star infielder Danny Mendick from Class A-Advanced Winston-Salem prior to today's 11:05 a.m. game against the Lakewood BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park. Kannapolis has also received left-handed pitcher Michael Horejsei from Advanced Rookie Great Falls, bringing the team's roster to 25 players.

Mendick, 22, has appeared in 53 games for Kannapolis, batting .298 (59-198) with 13 doubles, a home run, 18 RBI, and 20 runs scored across two stints with the Intimidators. This season, Mendick has appeared in 70 games between Kannapolis, Winstno-Salem, and AAA Charlotte, batting .262 (65-248) across the three levels, including 15 games with the Dash and two games with the Knights. Mendick represented Kannapolis in the 57th Annual SAL All-Star Game on June 21 in Lexington, Ky., as one of four Intimidators to play in the game.

Horejsei, 23, has appeared in eight games with the Great Falls Voyagers since being selected by the White Sox in the 21st round of the June 2016 First-Year Player Draft. He is 0-1 with a 0.00 ERA (0 ER/12.2 IP) and 11 strikeouts compared to two walks.

The Intimidators open a 7-game road trip on Wednesday at 11:05 a.m. in Lakewood, N.J. to start a 3-game series against the BlueClaws at FirstEnergy Park. Kannapolis will send RHP Brannon Easterling (4-1, 2.48 ERA) to the mound against Lakewood's RHP Franklyn Kilome (2-7, 4.75 ERA) in the series opener. The Intimidators return to Kannapolis on Thursday, July 28, to open a 7-day home stand against the Grasshoppers and Charleston RiverDogs.
