Carlos Munoz Named Appy League Player of the Month

Bristol Pirates' first baseman Carlos Munoz recently became the first Bristol player since Kevan Smith in 2011 to be named Appalachian League Player of the Month. Munoz received an award commemorating his accomplishment in a clubhouse ceremony earlier this month, after a blistering July in which he led the league in average (.396), hits (40), extra-base hits (20), total bases (74), doubles (13), homers (seven) and OPS (1.194). His 23 RBI were second-most in the league in July and his 21 runs scored were tied for fifth in the league. In August, Munoz is currently third in average (.345) and third in homers (nine).
