Express announce TV package
"This is a comprehensive, local television package that allows fans throughout Central Texas to catch the Express," Ryan said. "We are excited about the partnership with both stations. Television coverage of our games assists greatly in our efforts to let the people in Central Texas know about the quality product we offer at The Dell Diamond."
All Round Rock Express games are broadcast via radio on 104.9 FM The Horn ESPN Austin. Live streaming video is also available for all home games at www.RoundRockExpress.com online.
Express broadcasters Mike Capps and Jerry Grote will handle the call of the games broadcast on YNN Sports, which has a coverage area that includes the Austin, Waco, Temple-Killeen and San Marcos markets.
"YNN Sports is extremely excited about our new partnership with the Round Rock Express," YNN sports director, Ricky Doyle, said. "It marks a new direction for our sports channel with live game broadcasts, and I think our viewers will really enjoy it. The timing is perfect, given the excitement over Express and Texas Rangers Baseball in Central Texas right now."
YNN Sports also produces The Express Zone, the official show of the Round Rock Express. The weekly 30-minute show airs Wednesdays at 2 p.m. CDT on YNN Sports, and is rebroadcast each hour on the hour through Thursday afternoon.
The sports-specific wing of KXAN (NBC) in Austin, KBVO, has a coverage area that includes the greater Austin market. KBVO also airs on DirecTV channel 51, AT&T channel 7 (HD 1007), Grande channel 18 (HD 318), Suddenlink channel 15 (HD 725) and Northalnd Cable channel 97.
"We are thrilled to partner with Round Rock Express baseball and serve our community live Saturday night Express games in HD on our local sports station KBVO," LIN Media president and general manager, Eric Lassberg, said.
Sports director Roger Wallace will handle play-by-play duties for the KBVO broadcasts; he will be joined by Major League pitchers Kelly Wunsch and Kirk Dressendorfer.
"I'm excited to have the opportunity to call games this summer alongside Kirk Dressendorfer and Kelly Wunsch, as the Express launch this new chapter in their proud history with the Texas Rangers," Wallace said.
Express president, Dave Fendrick, echoed the sentiment about the television package.
"This package only goes to show the excitement and energy surrounding the Texas Rangers organization," Fendrick said. "This gives Rangers fans an opportunity to see the organization's developing talent on a broader scope. It also expands the awareness of Minor League Baseball."
The first YNN broadcast is Friday, as the Express open a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The first KBVO broadcast is Saturday, also with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch.
