Flannery in Quakes Hall of Fame
The Quakes Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 2007 as a way to recognize people that have made an impact on and off the field. The inaugural class included Gary Matthews Jr., Derrek Lee, and Matt Clement. The 2008 class consisted of Francisco Rodriguez and Leo "Coach" Petsuch.
"Tim was the greatest inspirational manager I have ever met," recalls Stickney, "He single-handedly motivated the Quakes ball club into believing in themselves and upsetting Modesto for the 1994 California League Championship."
Flannery was the manager during Rancho Cucamonga's only California League Championship in 1994. He led the team to an all-time best 77 wins and just 59 losses. Tim was originally drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 6th round of the 1978 draft out of Chapman University in Orange County. He had an 11 year career that saw him hit .255 with nine home runs and 209 RBI all with San Diego. Tim is currently entering his second season as the third base coach for the San Francisco Giants, following a stint on the San Diego Padres coaching staff.
An official plaque of Flannery will be hung on Quakes Hall of Fame wall near the home clubhouse at The Epicenter in time for Opening Night.
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes are the California League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and open their 2009 home schedule on Monday, April 13th at the Epicenter against the Visalia Rawhide.
