White Sox to Hold Tryout at Regions Park
The camp is open for players ages 16-23. It begins at 9:00 a.m., but registration starts at 8:15 a.m. The length of the camp will depend on the number of players participating, but players should allow for a minimum of four hours.
Participants need to bring their own equipment, including glove, shoes, catcher's gear, and bats (bats will be available to participants that do not have one). Players will be timed in the 60-yard dash and be evaluated in hitting, fielding and pitching.
Participants under 21 years of age will need written permission from a parent or legal guardian to attend the tryout. Also, American Legion players will need written permission from their coach to attend if their legion season is not finished.
Players drafted in the 2009 or 2010 Free Agent Draft by any team other than the Chicago White Sox are not permitted to participate. A number of former Barons have been signed through the camp in past years, including pitcher Ehren Wassermann and former Barons catcher Eric Hollis (currently the hitting coach for the White Sox Advanced Rookie Team, Great Falls). Both players attended Samford University.
