Chef Mackinnon has been a long standing Detroit Tiger fan as well as Detroit native. His career path started at Schoolcraft Collage in Livonia Michigan Majoring in Culinary Arts then onto Romeyer a 3 Michelin star restaurant in Brussels Belgium as an apprentice.

After a year there he apprenticed at Wittimeyer Pastry shop in the Grande Sablon Belgium, then retained as the personal Chef for the Count of Ansembourg, Luxembourg.

Returning to the US, Chef Tom Opened the Henry Ford, Fairlane Mansion for the University of Michigan Dearborn as a Banquet Center & Restaurant, years later Opening the Holly Hotel in Holly Michigan and finally Opening his own Restaurant called Mackinnon's in Northville, Michigan as a 4 Star restaurant for 30 years.

Mackinnon's received accolades from Conde Nast Magazine as one of the Best restaurants in America and also receiving the same from Gourmet Magazine.

While running Mackinnon's Chef Tom was a TV Chef in the Local Detroit network for, Fox 2, WDIV (NBC) as The Gourmet on The Go as well ABC channel 7 as The No-nonsense Chef.

Mackinnon's Catering served a vast clientele such as Paul McCartney, President Bill Clinton as well as many Known celebrities.

After turning the restaurant over to his son, Chef Mackinnon became Executive Chef For The Inn at St. John's Golf & Convention Center in Plymouth Michigan for many years and then a journey to the Island of Bermuda where he was Executive Chef for The Bermuda Hospitality Group, Bermuda's Largest Foodservice company of Restaurants, Berkeley University Foodservice and The National Sports Stadium Foodservice.

After years on the Island, Chef Tom Found the perfect match with his perfect Team.
