Hens with Ordonez fall to G-Braves, 4-1, on Tuesday

June 7, 2011

The Toledo Mud Hens dropped Tuesday night's contest to the Gwinnett Braves, 4-1, at Fifth Third Field. Rehabbing Detroit Tigers superstar, Magglio Ordonez, went 1-4 in Tuesday's game. RHP L.J. Gagnier (0-1) was tagged for his first Triple-A loss of the season after giving up four runs (three earned) in 5.0 innings of work. During the game, news broke that Ordonez will be with the Mud Hens for Wednesday's contest against Gwinnett.

Gwinnett (30-28) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead over the Mud Hens (27-33) thanks to a lead-off home run by Jose Constanza. Just three batters later, the Hens fell behind by another run after a G-Braves RBI single.

Gwinnett added two more runs in the top of the fourth after a run-scoring double and a RBI triple to put the Mud Hens in a 4-0 hole.

Scott Thorman helped the Hens to finally break into the scoring column in the eighth inning when he singled in Cale Iorg. The run put Toledo within three of the G-Braves at 4-1. With two outs in the ninth inning, the Mud Hens threatened to cut into the G-Braves lead. With Argenis Diaz on third and Will Rhymes on second, Iorg struck out to end the game.

The Mud Hens will attempt to exact some revenge against the Gwinnett Braves on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
