Meet LHP #23 Chris Ingoglia

June 26, 2007
Chris Ingoglia is one of a half dozen southpaws on the Jamestown Jammers pitching staff to start the 2007 season. Being drafted by the Marlins was a natural selection as Ingoglia is a native of Port St. Lucie, Florida and played his college ball for the sunshine state's Stetson University.

Ingoglia is perhaps a bit more connected to the game of baseball than others. He had brain surgery at the age of 13 after being hit in the head with a baseball. The injury did little to keep him away from the game, however. He was a freshman All-American for Stetson and was the Stetson University Pitcher of the Year for 2005 and was 1st team All Atlantic Sun Conference this season.

No stranger to collegiate success, Ingoglia is fourth on Stetson's all-time win list with 30. He finished his collegiate career with 286 strikeouts and a 3.81 ERA in 380 1/3 innings pitched.

The 18th round selection by the Marlins in the June 7 MLB Entry Draft says he enjoys music, movies, anything competitive and food off the field. He chose Rammstein's "Sonne" as his walk-up song for the 2007 season. Manager Darin Everson rewarded Ingoglia with the fifth spot in the Jammers rotation to start the season.
