Taylor Cole wins NWL Pitcher of the Week
The right-hander out of Las Vegas, NV was unhittable in his last start against the Yakima Bears as Cole threw 95 pitches over 7 2/3 innings of work and did not give up a hit while striking out six.
"Sure I was a bit disappointed coming out of the game with a no-hitter, but that's just my competitive nature", said Cole on Team1410 Sports Radio this past Monday.
"I respect the decision to bring me out of the game and understand why it was done. It was a team win against the Bears and I was happy to simply see us put together a victory with the post-season on the line".
This is the first Pitcher of the Week Award for Cole who finished the Northwest League regular season with a perfect 6-0 record and a NWL leading 0.81ERA through his 11 starts in 2012.
This marks the 4th award of the summer for a Canadians pitcher as RHP Javier Avendano was named top arm three times between June 25th and September 3rd.
