Tulsa's Jimenez one-hits Wichita through six

Right-hander's no-hitter broken up after 5 1/3 innings
June 14, 2006
Ubaldo Jimenez went 5 1/3 innings before allowing a hit as Tulsa blanked visiting Wichita, 4-0, on Wednesday afternoon at Drillers Stadium.

Jimenez (8-2) allowed one hit over six innings en route to becoming the Texas League's first eight-game winner. The 22-year-old right-hander struck out six and walked three, and has allowed just one run over his last 27 innings pitched.

Dee Brown singled off the glove of first baseman Joe Koshansky with one out in the sixth inning to break up Jimenez's no-hit attempt. Jim Miller and Jason Burch preserved the shutout with three innings of scoreless relief.

Joe Gaetti's first-inning homer put the Drillers on the board. Jordan Czarniecki and Troy Tulowitzki hit sacrifice flies in the second frame, while Gaetti walked to lead off the eighth and eventually scored on a balk by Juan Cedeno.

Seung Song (4-7) took the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and four walks over five innings. Cedeno walked four batters over three innings of relief.

Tulsa improved to 39-27, and is currently leading Springfield by a 1/2 game in the Texas League's North Division. The Drillers and Cardinals will play four games beginning Thursday night at Hammons Field in Springfield.
