Who are the Springfield Cardinals?
The Springfield Cardinals are the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the 11-time World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. They are one of eight teams in the Texas League along with the Arkansas Travelers, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals, the Tulsa Drillers, the Corpus Christi Hooks, the Frisco RoughRiders, the Midland RockHounds and the San Antonio Missions. The Cardinals captured their first Texas League Title in 2012. They are owned and operated by the St. Louis Cardinals, and welcomed the largest crowd in team history -- 11,818 fans -- on July 4, 2013.
Where is Hammons Field?
Hammons Field is located in downtown Springfield at 955 East Trafficway. Here are specific directions.
Traveling on I-44 - Go South on HWY 65 to the Chestnut Expressway Exit. Go West off of Chestnut Expressway and proceed to National. Turn left (South) on National. Turn Right (West) on Trafficway. Hammons Field is on right side.
Traveling on US-60 - Exit North on HWY 65 to the Chestnut Expressway Exit. Go West off of Chestnut Expressway and proceed to National. Turn left (South) on National. Turn Right (West) on Trafficway. Hammons Field is on right side.
How do I get tickets and how much are they?
Individual game tickets can be purchased by calling (417) 863-2143, at the ticket office at Hammons Field or online by clicking this link. Ticket prices range from $7.00 to $49.00 depending on your seat location. Season Tickets and Group Tickets can be purchased by calling a Springfield Cardinals Account Executive at (417) 863-0395.
When is the ticket office at Hammons Field open?
Regular ticket office hours at Hammons Field are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. When the Cardinals play at home on Saturdays and Sundays, the ticket office opens at 10 a.m.. On game days, the Cardinals ticket office is open at 9 a.m. and remains open through game time.
What time do the gates open on game days?
The Hammons Field gates open one hour prior to game time. For example, if game time is 7:10pm, gates will open at 6:10pm.
How do promotional/giveaway nights work?
All giveaway items will be distributed on the game day specified, when the gates open, on a first-come, first-served basis. Each ticketed guest that is within any specified age limit will receive one (1) giveaway item (while supplies last). Guests with multiple tickets must exit and reenter the ballpark in order to receive multiple giveaway items. Children under the age of three need a ticket in order to receive a promotion item. There are no exceptions to this policy. Giveaway dates, items, and quantities are subject to change. The St. Louis Cardinals reserve the right to modify this policy at any time. What is the Rain Check policy?
In the event that five innings of one game are not played, except when the home team is in the lead at the end of four and a half innings, tickets to that game may be exchanged for the same price ticket, subject to availability, to any remaining regular season game at Hammons Field. Tickets must be mailed or presented in person, to the Hammons Field Box Office. Complimentary tickets are not exchangeable.
How old does a child have to be to require a ticket?
Children three and under are admitted for free and do not require a ticket, as long as the child remains on the lap of the parent or guardian. Children that require an actual seat at Hammons Field will need a ticket.
Can I bring food and drinks into Hammons Field?
Texas League rules prohibit outside food and drinks from being brought into Hammons Field. However, one bottle of water per person is permitted. Coolers are not allowed.
Am I allowed to bring a lawn chair to sit in General Admission?
Lawn chairs are not permitted at Hammons Field, but blankets and towels are encouraged.
Where do I park?
The Springfield Cardinals do not own or maintain any parking lots near Hammons Field. We would like to recommend parking in the paid parking lot across the street on Trafficway or at the Jordan Valley Park Parking Garage.
Is there disabled and wheelchair seating?
We are pleased to offer several disabled seating locations at Hammons Field. These areas are located at the top of each section, on the concourse. Each area features spots for wheelchairs, as well as seats for accompanying fans.
Prior to 2012, when was the last Springfield Cardinals Texas League Championship?
The 2012 Championship was the Cardinals first in the Texas League. They have been league champions five times prior in the Western Association in 1931, 1932, 1934, 1937 and 1939.
How many Springfield Cardinals have gone on to become St. Louis Cardinals?
On July 2nd, 2006, reliever Josh Kinney, a member of the Inaugural 2005 Springfield Cardinals, was called up to St. Louis. With his appearance against the Atlanta Braves on July 3rd, Kinney officially became the first Springfield Cardinals player to ever make his Major League debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. Kinney also became the first Springfield Cardinals' player to appear in a postseason game and the first to ever win a World Series Ring, when the Cardinals beat Detroit in the 2006 Fall Classic!
Through the end of the 2015 season, a total of 73 former Springfield Cardinals have made their big league debut with the St. Louis Cardinals. Reliever Joe Nelson, who was also a part of the Inaugural 2005 Springfield Cardinals, was the first player to actually play in the Major Leagues after wearing the Springfield uniform. Nelson appeared with the Kansas City Royals on April 21st, 2006, in a game against the Cleveland Indians. Although he had already pitched in the Major Leagues, with brief stints for Atlanta and Boston, Nelson became the first Springfield Cardinals player to ever pitch in the big leagues, after appearing in a Springfield uniform.
In 2005, Cal Eldred became the first St. Louis Cardinal to ever don a Springfield Cardinals uniform, appearing in three relief outings on a rehab assignment here at Hammons Field.
How can I meet players and get autographs?
Each night at Hammons Field, several players are stationed at the gate entrances to greet fans and sign autographs, as the gates open. Players are sometimes available by the home dugout on the first base side before and after the game, and are available to sign as time permits.
Where can I get Springfield Cardinals merchandise?
The official Springfield Cardinals Team Store is located at Hammons Field. During non-game days, the store is open Monday through Friday from 11am - 4pm. During Monday through Friday home games, the store opens at 11am, then closes briefly for one hour prior to gates opening for the game, then reopens through the entirety of the game.
