Lynchburg pitchers struck out 13, and the Hillcats used two big innings on offense to defeat Frederick, 7-1, and win a share of the Carolina League Championship at City Stadium Saturday night.

Aaron Civale went seven innings for his seventh straight start and earned his sixth consecutive victory as a result, as the Hillcats (82-52) defeated Potomac (62-73) at City Stadium Wednesday, 5-2.

Triston McKenzie struck out 11 batters and only allowed one run on one hit in six innings to help Lynchburg defeat Down East, 3-2, and clinch the second-half Northern Division title.

Lynchburg trailed by three runs on two different occasions but came back each time to force extra innings and eventually prevail in the 12th, 7-6.

Sam Haggerty had two doubles and scored twice in his first two at-bats, which was plenty of support for Aaron Civale. The right-hander went seven innings for his third consecutive start and held Down East to one run on six hits in a 5-1 Hillcats victory Sunday evening.
