Yankees Avoid Sweep And Leave Home On High Note

  Pulaski took the lead over Burlington in the fourth inning and kept it to win 4-2 in the 2016 home finale at Calfee Park Monday night. David McKay was tagged with the loss for the Royals pitching for four innings allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out four. Daniel Alvarez picked up the win in his Pulaski debut pitching for five innings only allowing one hit while walking two and striking out one. Juan Jimenez was also credited with the save pitching for three innings allowing two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five.

     Pulaski was first on the board with a solo home run from Brandon Wagner in the fourth. He had a fantastic night and finished a triple short of the cycle. In the fifth, the Yankees plated a pair with Josh Gardiner leading off with a walk. Oswaldo Cabrera then hit a double to right deep enough to bring Gardiner around to score. A wild pitch moved Cabrera to third before Donny Sands singled to score him giving Pulaski a 3-0 lead. The Yankees' final run of the night came in the sixth. Wagner led off with a single before stealing second. Leonardo Molina then singled to put runners on the corners. Victor Rey then singled up the middle scoring Wagner to make it 4-0.

     It looked like that's where the score would stay until Burlington tried to get a rally going in the ninth. Jose Sanchez singled before Kort Peterson hit a massive home run over the center field fence to cut the lead in half. However, Jimenez struck out the next two batters. A pair of singles then put the tying run on the bases but a fly out ended the game to seal a Yankees' win.
