Yankees Release 2016 Roster

PULASKI, Virginia - The Pulaski Yankees Opening Day roster for the 2016 season has been announced. The roster for this season's team consists of 30 players, including 18 pitchers, two catchers, six infielders, and four outfielders. The highest draft pick from this month's draft that will be playing in Pulaski is fourth-round pick Nick Nelson, a pitcher from Gulf Coast State College. The next highest pick coming to Pulaski is Tim Lynch, a ninth-round first baseman from Southern Mississippi. He will be joined by infielders Wilkerman Garcia, Dermis Garcia, Welfrin Mateo, Kevin Cornelius, and Josh Gardiner. The outfielders on this year's team are Isiah Gilliam, Andy Diaz, Estevan Florial, and Ben Ruta. The catchers for Pulaski this season are Victor Rey and Brian Reyes. The pitchers making up this year's rotation are Chad Martin, Rafael Lara, Juan Jimenez, Jeff Degano, Julian Aybar, Aabel Duarte, Nicholas Nelson, Zach Wasserman, Alex Bisacca, Icezack Flemming, Spencer Mahoney, Phillip Diehl, Braden Bristo, Miles Chambers, Greg Weissert, Will Jones, Tyler Honahan, and Cody Hamilin. Hamlin is returning to Pulaski for his second year with the team.  

     Most of the players on this year's team are draftees from this month's amateur draft and players who were in the Yankees farm system last year that have been promoted. Those who have been promoted within the Yankees system were playing in the Gulf Coast League last season, one level below the Appalachian League.
