LAS VEGAS, Nevada. - The Tacoma Rainiers (64-70) snapped their scoreless streak, but still fell to the Las Vegas 51s (67-68) by a final score of 7-5 on Wednesday night at Cashman Field.
Shortstop Zach Vincej (2x4, 3B, 2 RBI), catcher David Freitas (2x4, R, 3B, HR, RBI), and third baseman Seth Mejias-Brean (2x2, R, 2B, RBI, 2 BB) all notched multiple hits to lead the Rainiers offense. Left fielder Gordon Beckham (1x4, BB) joined them in reaching base multiple times.

Tacoma starting pitcher Casey Lawrence struggled for the first time since the all-star break, allowing six runs on nine hits (two home runs) over 4.1 innings of work. Lawrence issued one walk and struck out four on 71 pitches (51 strikes).
The Rainiers bullpen nearly completely shut down the 51s offense, combining to allow just one run on three hits over the final 3.2 innings. James Pazos (1.1 IP), Dan Altavilla (1.0 IP), and Chasen Bradford (0.1 IP) all logged scoreless outings, while Marc Rzepczynski (1.0 IP) allowed one run.
Tacoma right-hander Bryan Evans (6-2, 3.84) and Las Vegas righty Kevin McGowan (4-2, 4.44) will close out the series on Thursday night at 7:06 p.m. PT.
